Ambulances from Hospitals Extend Love Abroad
2009-10-15
The Pu-tze Hospital and the Ilan Hospital have been backing this program since its inception, regularly providing GMISS with well-functioning medical equipment. In late 2006, the Pu-tze Hospital donated a Ford pickup van, which was in excellent condition. In early 2007, the Ilan Hospital donated a Delica pickup van, which also ran well. The two vehicles were carefully evaluated and rated appropriate for donation. Through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, we learned that Honduras and Panama were in need of ambulances. Therefore, the two vans were given away to the two countries. Once the recipient countries were decided, the vehicles went through large-scale maintenance which included the replacement of warning signals and spare parts as well as bodywork painting. The logo of GMISS was also printed on the back of the vehicles. Both were shipped by sea in early October, 2007 and set to arrive locally by November, 2007.
