From March 30 through April 5, 2007, GMISS and the Taiwan International Health Action (IHA) jointly participated in the 2007 Dubai International Humanitarian Aid & Development Conference & Exhibition, DIHAD --- with a view to promoting humanitarian aid and international medical assistance. The representatives of GMISS attending the exhibition are GMISS Director Yi-You, Huang and GMISS Staff Chung-Ming, Lu. The Taiwan Medical and Biotech Industry Association and the Taipei Medical Instruments Commercial Association also contributed a lot in collecting medical equipment that could best represent Taiwan? excellence in medical technologies and skills. As major organizations under the UN, Non-government organizations (NGO), medical equipment manufacturers and state-run media were all present at the DIHAD, GMISS representatives had the opportunity to introduce GMISS to foreign friends and thus made its presence felt internationally. This exhibition was very rewarding as a lot of foreign friends were very much impressed with Taiwan? effort in promoting international medical assistance and humanitarian aid. GMISS learned a lot from international groups or humanitarian organizations about how they deliver humanitarian aids. GMISS also became more aware of the international situations, such as the sanitation problems faced with underdeveloped countries, what people need and what medical resources are most deficient in a particular country. In the future GMISS will continue to strengthen its ties and exchanges with the international community and spread medical assistance further into every corner of the world.
